Fiona Pennie powered to canoe slalom world silver with a fast and flawless run in Maryland.
Last year's European champion won her last world medal eight years ago and only Australia's Jess Fox was quicker in the K1 event, as she added to her victory in the C1 class with a rare double.
“I knew when I crossed the finish line it would take something pretty special to beat that run,” said Pennie.
“I was probably 85 percent confident I had it and knew it was going to be likely that some of the girls would make mistakes in the final.
“Then when Jess came down by the half way split she was up, I knew it was pretty likely she had it from there.
“It's awesome to end the year this way, I knew I had it in me and obviously the World Cups have been disappointing, there's just been something wrong here and there in each of the races.
“But this result is definitely up there with my best."
