Ormerod extends fine form with World Cup silver

Katie Ormerod continued her impressive return to fitness after claiming silver at the snowboard slopestyle World Cup in Seiser Alm.

The 22-year-old picked up a bronze medal at Laax last week despite having only just returned to competitive action after a two-year injury lay-off.

But she went one better this time around to move to top spot in the World Cup standings, delighted to have carried on her impressive form in Italy.

“I am unbelievably happy to finish in second place at Seiser Alm,” said Ormerod, who was forced to withdraw from PyeongChang 2018 due to injury.

“I am super happy about my riding and to get back-to-back podiums is the best feeling ever.”

Ormerod produced an impressive run to finish with a score of 72.11, more than three points ahead of Brooke Voigt in third.

The gold medal went to Australia’s Tess Coady who came in with a score of 73.48 to pip Ormerod to top spot.

The World Cup returns next month when the competition moves to Calgary where Ormerod will wear the leader’s yellow bib.
