Olympic24: Murray to begin Wimbledon title bid and badminton squad for Rio announced

British number one Andy Murray starts his Wimbledon campaign today on centre court where he'll take on compatriot Liam Broady while eight badminton players have been included in the squad off to Rio 2016. Here's our review of the last 24 hours:

Murray will be second on centre court, after Serena Williams, as he bids for a second Wimbledon title on the grass where he won Olympic gold in 2012.

There are seven Brits in action at SW19 today after a mixed day for the Brits at the All England Club on Monday.

World number 772 Marcus Willis continued his Wimbledon fairytale with a straight sets victory while Dan Evans beat Jan-Lennard Struff in four sets.

With little more than a month to go until the Rio 2016 Olympic Games today sees eight badminton players welcomed into Team GB.

World number seven pairing Chris and Gabby Adcock will compete in the mixed doubles after finishing 2015 on a high with victory at the World Superseries Finals victory in Dubai in December.

In the men’s singles Rajiv Ouseph is set for his second Olympic appearance after competing at London 2012 while Kirsty Gilmour is the representative in the women’s singles.  To read more click here.

British Athletics yesterday named a squad of 98 athletes for the European Athletics Championships which take place in Amsterdam, Netherlands from July 6-10.

There are a number of big names in the team including 42-year-old reigning 10,000m champion Jo Pavey while Greg Rutherford (long jump), Martyn Rooney (400m) and Tiffany Porter (100m hurdles) are also looking to defend the titles they won two years ago in Zurich.
