Olympic coach Brown confident for Archery World Cup opener

Lloyd Brown, Olympic coach of Archery GB, admits he is quietly confident as Britain prepare to shoot at the World Cup opener in Shanghai.

Olympians Naomi Folkard, Amy Oliver and Larry Godfrey have all been chosen to compete in the Olympic recurve discipline in China next week.

They will be joined by Nicky Hunt, who won two golds in the compound discipline at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, and Sean Evans and 16-year-old Bradley Denny.

Britain will send 13 archers in all incorporating the non-Olympic compound discipline and coach Brown is excited about what the recurve six can achieve.

“Competition amongst places is fierce and at the selection shoots the quality rises to the top,” he said.

“Naomi, Amy, Larry and Nicky will feel more comfortable in this setting and we have high hopes for them.

“Whilst this will be a great opportunity for Sean and Bradley to establish themselves in the senior squad.”
