Two-time Olympian Elena Allen enjoyed individual and team success at the ISSF Shotgun World Championships – with athlete high performance manager Tim Newenham praising her determination.

Allen, who represented Team GB at the London 2012 Olympics four years after shooting at Beijing 2008, won individual women’s skeet bronze and team silver in Peru.

The 41-year-old joined forces with Amber Hill and Pinky Le Grelle in the team competition with athlete high performance manager Newenham pleased with both old and new.

Hill is just 16 and finished fifth individually and equalled a world record after shooting 74 out of 75 in the qualifying rounds as well as breaking a junior world record.

And Newenham said: “What great performances in the women’s skeet event by the GB girls. For Elena to win bronze is testament to her competitiveness.

“And with Amber Hill aged just sixteen, finishing fifth in the final, the future looks very positive. A well deserved team silver medal, to demonstrate the depth of our athletes.”
