Laugher grabs another silver in Guangzhou

Double Rio 2016 medallist Jack Laugher earned his second silver of the Guangzhou leg of the Diving World Series.

Laugher finished runner-up alongside Chris Mears in the 3m Synchro event on the first day, and returned 24 hours later to claim another silver in the 3m Springboard.

The 22-year-old – who won Synchro gold and 3m Springboard silver at Rio 2016 – finished with a score of 529.05 to take second place, winner Xie Siyi of China taking gold with 556.20 points and his compatriot Cao Yuan earning bronze with a total of 519.80.

Elsewhere, Tom Daley and Grace Reid competing in the Mixed 3m Synchro event and finished fith with a score of 309.99.

Gold went to home favourites Han Wang and Zheng Li with a score of 333.00, while Canadians Jennifer Abel and Francois Imbeau-Dulac and Australian Maddison Keeney and Dominic Bedggood took silver and bronze.

And China completed a clean sweep of gold medals on day two as Tingmao Shi won the women’s 3m Springboard with a score of 395.40.

Compatriot Yani Chang took silver and Keeney won bronze, while Brits Reid and Kat Torrance were unable to advance from their semi-final with scores of 320.10 and 290.90 respectively.
