Team GB marksman James Huckle has found the perfect way to keep his sharp-shooting skills honed - playing video games.
The 22-year-old from Harlow, Essex, will begin his bid for Olympic glory next week in the 50m rifle three positions event at the Royal Artillery Barracks in Woolwich.
And Huckle says there is nothing better to keep him at the top of his game than a shoot 'em up with his mates.
"We play Call of Duty and games like that," he revealed. "My friends think 'he must be really good at that' - and it's a different skill but there are a lot of things you can take from that - the discipline side, the psychological side, the fact I'm super-competitive.
"From the technical side it's not the same at all - but I can't lose to my friends so secretly I've got good at those games."
British shooting chiefs have set a modest target of one medal from the London Games as they attempt to end a drought stretching back to 2000.
Richard Faulds, a gold medalist at those Sydney Games, is competing again but Britain's best chance is expected to lie with his fellow competitor in the double trap, world number one Peter Wilson.
Yet Huckle broke British shooting legend Malcolm Cooper's 12-year record in the three positions event in 2011 and knows another personal best could see him spring a surprise.
"This is the time to do a PB, this is what we all try to peak for, performance wise," he added.
"We know what it's all about, it's the biggest prize that we've all been working towards, the biggest sporting event in the world so putting a PB in would be my goal, for sure."
