Hall collects history-making British Ladies Amateur title

Georgia Hall's year to remember continued with a dramatic victory at the Ladies British Open Amateur Championships in South Wales.

Hall, 17, won individual and team gold at the Australian Youth Olympic Festival in January and also carried the Team GB flag at the opening ceremony in Sydney.

And she now becomes the first golfer to hold the girl's and women's British amateur titles at the same time following her heroics at the weekend.

But even she couldn't believe the manner of her win - with a hole in one at the 17th giving her a one-shot lead in her final with Spain’s Luna Sobron.

"I'm so happy I can hardly speak," said Hall, the top ranked women's amateur in Europe.

"To get my first ever hole-in-one and win the British championship is like a dream come true.

"I was behind all the way, in just about the strongest wind I have ever played in, but I never gave up. I knew I had to be patient and wait for things to turn my way. And they did."
