Gillings crashes at snowboard cross World Cup

Zoe Gillings was brought crashing down in her quarter-final at the snowboard cross World Cup in Lake Louise.

Gillings - now ranked seventh in the world this season - was well positioned when a rival sent her tumbling, allowing Canada's Dominique Maltais to surge clear and take line honours.

World Cup leader Maltais went on to take second in the final behind the in-form American Lindsey Jacobellis, with Helene Olafsen completing the podium.

Gillings' qualifying time ranked her 13th overall while Australia's Jarryd Hughes won the men's event ahead of Germany's Konstanstin Schad and USA's Alex Deibold.
