GB women lose the second match of three with Germany

Great Britain’s women’s hockey team suffered defeat in their second outing of a three-match series with Germany in Mannheim, the scores reversed as Jason Lee’s troops fell to a 3-1 loss.

Olympic bronze medallist Georgie Twigg along with Susie Townsend and Steph Elliott all netted in the 3-1 opening win over Germany as head coach Lee fields a relatively inexperienced team.

However the tides were turned in the second match of three as Franzisca Hauke’s double and Eva Frank’s effort just before the hour set up victory for Germany.

Captain for the match Susie Gilbert grabbed a consolation two minutes from time with one more match before Lee heads to the World League Final in Argentina with England.
