GB wait on Lenzly news

Great Britain may have lost more than a match on Tuesday night as it appeared Mike Lenzly's Olympic Games came to an end after just six minutes of action.

The guard, normally a starter for coach Chris Finch, tore a calf muscle 10 days before the start of the Games and only just made the final roster after undergoing fitness tests last Thursday.

But after missing the opening game against Russia, Lenzly came off the bench in the 67-62 loss to Brazil and managed only six minutes before collapsing to the floor, needing assistance to limp back to the bench. Although the initial signs did not look good, Britain will only know more later on Wednesday when they can have tests performed.

"I'll have the doctors look at it, speak to them and we will know in the morning," Lenzly said. "It's too early to say, I've got some ice on it, I'll get some treatment and see how it is when I wake up in the morning."

Whatever happens, Lenzly's frustration has been obvious as the injury struck so close to the tournament everyone has been striving for.

"I've been rehabbing it to get it right for these Games and luck hasn't been on my side so far," he said. "Hopefully it will turn around and I can get out there and help the guys."

Lenzly's most noticeable contribution during his brief time on court was a three-pointer that gave them an early 11-4 lead, but once he had gone, Brazil edged back in front and held the advantage for most of the game.

But Britain rallied and back-to-back three-pointers from Luol Deng gave them a one-point lead with four minutes to go.

From there, however, things began to unravel and Brazil put the game out of reach.

"It's disappointing because we've put ourselves in a position to win," Lenzly added. "That's what we talk about, keeping it close, but we just couldn't close it out."
