GB’s world medal hopes lie on women’s compound trio in Belek

Britain are one win away from a medal at the World Archery Championships in Turkey as the women’s compound team face France in the bronze medal match.

The trio of double Paralympic champion Danielle Brown, Rikki Bingham and Andrea Gales started strongly with victories over Mexico and then Canada in Belek.

That set them up with a semi-final clash with Colombia however Aura Maria Bravo, Sara Lopez and Alejandra Usquiano proved too much for the Brits as they triumphed 194-165.

However all is not lost as they come up against France in the bronze medal match while Colombia take on the Netherlands in the fight for gold in Turkey.

Brown, Bingham and Gales are Britain’s last hope of a medal after the men’s compound team of Adam Ravenscroft, Duncan Busby and Chris Bell lost in the quarter-finals.

All failed individually with the compound bow while the same went for Naomi Folkard, Becky Martin, Amy Oliver, Alan Wills, Larry Godfrey and Ashe Morgan in the Olympic recurve events.
