Four golds for GB

Great Britain picked up four gold medals on day one of the British Open European Cup at K2 Crawley.

Gemma Howell won an all-British final against Faith Pitman in the 163kg category, Ashley McKenzie sealed a fourth British Open title with victory in the -60kg class, Sally Conway won the -70kg and Gemma Gibbons topped the -78kg.

Elsewhere there was bronze for Karina Bryant, who came through the repechage in the +78kg competition, while Jan Gosiewski also took the final place on the rostrum in -73kg.

After claiming his gold with five wins, McKenzie said: "I had a lot of support today, I love competing domestically and being a London boy I hope I can be selected for the Olympic Games and count on the home support backing me all the way."
