Fencers into quarter-finals

Britain's fencers appeared to have caught some of the feel-good factor as they reached the quarter-finals of the men's team foil at the ExCeL this morning.

Unable to reach the last 16 of the individual event, Richard Kruse, James Davis and Husayn Rosowsky were up against an Egyptian side containing silver medallist Alaaeldin Abouelkassem.

But Rosowsky and Davis both recorded 5-2 victories over the first African to win an Olympic fencing medal and Kruse then secured a 45-33 success by losing only 6-5 to the world number four.

Britain are ranked 11th in the world to Egypt's eight, but next up were top seeds Italy.
