Fancy and Boyadji get Britain going at figure skating worlds

Britain got up and running at the World Figure Skating Championships in Saitama as Amani Fancy and Christopher Boyadji performed their short program in the pairs competition.

Fancy and Boyadji, who beat Olympic pairing Stacey Kemp and David King at the British Championships before Christmas, scored 46.96 for their routine to place 18th.

However with only 16 progressing to the free skate they missed out by two places and less than five points as Italians Nicole Della Monica and Matteo Guarise took the last spot.

British interest continues in Japan with Jenna McCorkell competing in the ladies’ event and European bronze medallists Penny Coomes and Nicholas Buckland set for the ice dance.
