England held in Melbourne

England were held to a 1-1 draw by winless New Zealand in their final Champions Trophy Pool A hockey game in Melbourne.

Mark Gleghorne scored a field goal after 11 minutes to put England ahead, but Phillip Burrows pulled his side level late in the second half.

While New Zealand will definitely finish bottom of the pool with one point, England will have to wait on other results to discover whether they finish second or third and who they will face in the quarter-finals.

New Zealand pressed hard for a winner late on, and England head coach Jason Lee was pleased his side withstood the pressure.

"I thought we did well to adapt to the different zonal style of the game," he said. "Overall, it was a completely different style of hockey to the first two games and we did well to stay in the game, although I felt we actually had enough chances of our own to have won."
