Daley takes silver in Moscow

Tom Daley continued his recent revival with a third successive World Series silver medal in the 10metre platform in Moscow.

The 17-year-old again dispelled criticism his Olympic bid was not on track with a gritty rather than spectacular display in the absence of China's world champion Qiu Bo.

Daley had finished second behind Bo in the previous two legs of the series but after missing his armstand was in danger of missing a podium place.

But the former world champion battled back, nailing his final two dives to snatch second behind another Chinese diver, Lin Yue, with a score of 520.95.

Daley had been criticised for letting his media commitments overshadow his preparations for this summer's Games during the World Cup in February.

Since then the Plymouth diver has stood on the podium in all three World Series events with the final leg in Tijuana, Mexico next week.

That will be the final time Daley will be in the company of the world's best before the Olympic Games, when the former world champion will be one of Britain's most high-profile medal hopes.

Elsewhere, World Cup bronze medallists Tonia Couch and Sarah Barrow could only manage sixth in the final of the women's 10m platform synchro.

Chris Mears and Nick Robinson-Baker were fifth in the men's 3m springboard synchro.
