Daley just misses out on World Series bronze in Dubai

Olympic bronze medallist Tom Daley agonisingly missed out on securing a second successive medal in the 10m platform as the Diving World Series moved to Dubai.

Daley opened the new World Series campaign with 10m platform bronze on his return to the Water Cube in Beijing, where he made his Olympic debut aged just 14.

The tour moved to Dubai for the second leg and Daley won the second of two semi-finals after posting a combined score of 516.85 from his six dives.

Daley bettered that total in the final to 520.55 but had to make do with fourth as Olympic champion David Boudia took third with a combined score of 528.30.

China’s Qiu Bo was second with 530.90 while Russian Victor Minibaev went from fourth after the first dive, Daley posting the best score, to first and the win with 537.05.

The third leg of six on the Diving World Series takes place in London next month with Daley leading the British team into action at his new home in the Olympic Aquatics Centre.
