Consistent Walker equals season best in St Moritz

Paula Walker claimed her third eighth-place finish of the two-woman bobsleigh World Cup season in St Moritz as she builds towards next month’s Olympic Winter Games in Sochi.

Walker has been consistent if nothing else on the World Cup circuit this season, finishing in the top 13 on all five occasions prior to arriving in St Moritz where she achieved the same feat.

Pushed by Rebekah Wilson, Walker steered Britain’s No.1 sled to eighth in 2:17.38 minutes, 0.42 seconds behind Olympic champion Kaillie Humphries who went from tenth to first for the win.

Walker was seventh fastest in run one and sixth quickest in run two to equal the best finish of the season she recorded in both races at the Park City double header at the start of December.

Meanwhile Walker’s partner John Jackson placed 21st with Bruce Tasker in the two-man race in St Moritz, their time of 1:07.85 just enough for the one run.
