Christiansen and co raring to go in Lithuania

Great Britain head coach Doug Christiansen insists his troops are itching to get their World Championship Division One B adventure underway in Lithuania.

Christiansen’s side have touched down in Vilnius and have already taken to the Lithuanian ice as they prepare to take on hosts Lithuania, Croatia, Romania, Netherlands and Poland.

First up is a clash with Croatia as Great Britain bid to bounce back having suffered relegation from Division One A last year.

And Christiansen is adamant his players are raring to go with Croatia already in their sights.

"It's a great facility and the ice is pretty good, all things considered, as it's usually a basketball venue,” he said.

"I think the guys just want to get going and so do I. The guys are here to win a gold medal and win a lot of hockey games.

"For them to be focused, they need to be ready when the puck drops and there's no reason why they can't be.

"Everyone looks at Croatia's world ranking (30th) but they are a totally different team from even last year's tournament.

"You look at their roster. They now have NHL experience, significant AHL experience, so adding those players makes them a much better hockey team."
