British swimmers ease into final session in Berlin

It was a clean sweep of qualification for British swimmers on the final morning of the European Championships in Berlin.

The women’s 4x100m medley team – Lizzie Simmonds, Sophie Taylor, Jemma Lowe and Rebecca Turner – led the way with victory in their heat in a time of 4:03.03.

Roberto Pavoni also impressed in the 400m IM, finishing first in his heat in 4:17.32, while teammate Max Litchfield qualified fourth in the same race in 4:19.23.

Jazz Carlin shone in the 400m freestyle heats – the first event of the day in Germany – as the fourth fastest qualifier overall, recording a time of 4:08.17 to finish her race in second.

And the men’s 4x100m medley completed a productive morning, as Chris Walker-Hebborn, Ross Murdoch, Adam Barrett and Stephen Milne finished in 3:36.82 to ease into the final, also the fourth fastest qualifiers.

All the qualifiers, and more British swimmers, will be in action again when the final afternoon session kicks off at 4pm in Berlin.
