Statement from British Olympic Association Chairman Sir Hugh Robertson on the passing of IOC Member Patrick Baumann.
Mr Baumann was President of the Global Association of International Sports Federations and Secretary General of the International Basketball Federation. He was also appointed Vice Chair of the IOC's Coordination Committee for Paris 2024 and Chair of the Coordination Committee for LA 2028 and well as being President of the Lausanne 2020 Youth Olympic Winter Games Organising Committee.
Sir Hugh Robertson said: "Everyone in the British Olympic family will be profoundly shocked and saddened by the news of Patrick Baumann's untimely death. He was well known to all of us involved in London 2012 and represented all that is best in international sports administration. He was understated, decent and absolutely devoted to achieving the best outcomes for basketball and the wider Olympic movement. He will be greatly missed."
