The BOA and BT launch the Team GB Fan Zone in BT London Live

Bringing people together to celebrate Team GB medal success this summer

The British Olympic Association (BOA) is partnering with BT, the official communications services partner of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games, to give fans an exclusive opportunity to see Team GB medallists in person during the Games. Located in Hyde Park as part of BT London Live, the official Team GB Fan Zone will be where British medal winners first gather to publicly celebrate their success with Team GB fans this summer.

The Team GB Fan Zone at BT London Live Hyde Park will be central London’s biggest venue, with up to 50,000 fans soaking up the atmosphere and showing their support for Our Greatest Team. For Team GB’s Olympic medallists this will be an amazing opportunity to celebrate in front of their home crowd in the heart of the city.

Gavin Patterson, CEO, BT Retail, said, "BT London Live is already giving nearly a million people a fantastic experience this summer and now we're taking them one step closer to the Games. Not only will everyone remember where they were when the British medals were won - but through BT London Live, many will now remember how it felt to see their sporting heroes up close.”

Andy Hunt, Team GB Chef de Mission, said, “The support of the British public will be one of the key factors to success for Team GB this summer, and through our partnership with BT, we are delighted to know that our athletes will have this very special stage to celebrate their accomplishments with the fans who helped make it all possible.”

Greg Searle, Olympic gold medallist and BT Ambassador, said, “When competing, it’s the cheering crowd that gives you that extra push to succeed; it will be fantastic to compete at a home Games and feel the support of the British public behind us. Now, thanks to BT, athletes will be able celebrate with those that spurred them on and thank them for the part they played in Team GB’s success”

BT London Live is a partnership between the Mayor of London, The Royal Parks and the London Borough of Tower Hamlets and is a key part of the citywide programme of events being organised by the Mayor of London to celebrate the London 2012 Games.

The Mayor of London Boris Johnson said: 'We want as many people as possible to experience the excitement of the Games and this means even more fans will be able to get up close to their sporting heroes. Fantastic moments like the Team GB Fan Zone will add to a summer like no other and create a lifetime of unforgettable memories.'
