Shooter Kirsty Barr was lost for words after earning Team GB a quota place for the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games with a silver medal at the ISSF Al Ain Shotgun World Cup.
Barr produced some brilliant performances in the women’s trap, reaching the final after a nail-biting three-way shoot-off.
She eventually lost out to France’s Carole Cormenier in the battle for the gold medal – but silver was enough to secure the quota place.
Team GB has now secured 23 quota places for Tokyo 2020 across three sports – equestrian, sailing and shooting.
And the 30-year-old from Northern Ireland, who won silver at last year’s Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast, was at a loss after her performance in the United Arab Emirates.
She said: “I don’t have the words to express how happy I am right now.
“I’d like to thank everyone who supports me, as well as UK Sport and the National Lottery.”
Her compatriot Charlotte Hollands narrowly missed out on a shoot-off for the final by just one clay. Sportsbeat 2019
