Baltacha crashes out of French Open

Elena Baltacha crashed out of the French Open after going down in straight sets against New Zealand's Marina Erakovic.

The Scot, who has been struggling with an ankle injury that has kept her on the sidelines since last year's Olympics, had only won three matches in eight previous appearances at Roland Garros and was beaten 6-3, 6-0 in just 56 minutes.

She secured an early break but after that she was never in the match against the world number 92.

Her defeat leaves Heather Watson as the only British name left in the singles draws and her match against Switzerland's Stephanie Voegele was postponed due to bad weather in Paris.

"The comeback has been pretty good. I've been pretty happy. My form has been good. It's just a shame today I couldn't quite turn it around. It's a shame that she played such a good match."
