Adcocks lose out in French Open final

Gabby Adcock admits she was frustrated with her performance after missing out in the French Open mixed doubles badminton final alongside partner Chris Adcock.

The Commonwealth champion Adcocks battled bravely but ultimately went down 21-9, 21-16 to Indonesia’s Tontowi Ahmada and Liliyana Natsir.

The husband and wife duo were chasing their second Superseries title having triumphed in Hong Kong last year.

But the British pair started slowly in Paris and failed to recover, despite a valiant effort in the second set, going down to the three-time All England Open champions.

Gabby Adcock said: “It was a tough final – annoyingly we didn't play great today. We started to find our way on the second but it was a bit too late.

“We’re both disappointed now, but I'm sure we'll be happy with a final in a few days time.”

Chris echoed his wife’s sentiment, saying: “Really disappointing end to what has been a great week for us.

“We never got into the game and the Indonesians were just too good, so credit to them.”
