Biography

Joe Murray made his Olympic debut at the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He lost in his Bantam Weight (54kg) preliminary match to Yu Gu of China. Since Beijing Murray has turned professional and signed with Hatton Boxing. In 2007 Murray claimed a bronze medal at the AIBA World Boxing Championships in Chicago to qualify for the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games. He beat Commonwealth Games gold medallist Bruno Julie on route to the semi-final where he lost 20-11 to Enkhbat Badar-Uugan. His sporting hero is Ricky Hatton.
