Belfast-born Iain Lewers started his hockey career playing for Ireland, making 80 appearances for the Emerald Isle, before sitting out of international hockey for three years in order to make himself available for selection for Great Britain. He made his GB bow in May 2011 before representing England for the first time a month later.
Iain has subsequently become an integral part of the England and GB teams. In 2011 and 2013 he was runner-up in the Hockey Writers' Club UK Player of the Year before finally receiving the award in 2014, and was named player of the tournament at the 2013 EuroHockey Championships.
The defender, who played for Holcombe during the 2014/15 season, won bronze at the Commonwealth Games in 2014, the EuroHockey Championships in 2011 and in the 2012/13 World League.
