Gillian Cooke represented Team GB at the Vancouver 2010 Olympic Winter Games in the women's-two's bobsleigh alongside Nicola Minichiello. The Vancouver Games mark Cooke's debut Olympics.

Cooke and Minichiello were placed 10th after their first two runs, however, a crash in the third run left Cooke with an injured leg and damage to their sled. As such, they did not compete in the forth run.

Prior to bobsleigh, Cooke was an extremely talented athletics competitor, competing at a high level in pole vault, long jump, 60m sprint and 100m. However, after spotting a facebook advert she trialled out as breakman for Nicola Minichiello, and six months later they were World Champions.

As an athlete, Gillian competed in two Commonwealth Games in two different events – in pole vault in 2002, and then in the long jump four years later.

Her favourite film is The Shawshank Redemption.
